Did you know that video game manufacturers are developing and marketing high definition video games that you can play on a high definition TV? This is great news for those among us who truly want to escape reality and get swallowed up into a fantasy world of make believe when they play their video games.

Playing video games is one thing, but playing them on a big screened high definition TV is quite a different thing all together. When you used to sit close to a big screened TV the picture was fuzzy and unpleasant to behold, but all that has been changed with the advent of high definition technology in TV screens. Now the big screen picture is just as clear and distinct as the small screened picture and this is so, for a few reasons.

The high definition TV screen has twice the amount of vertical lines of resolution and pixels in it. These are what the TV uses to create the picture on the screen with, so the picture that appears is twice as clear and precise. Of course you don’t need satellite TV programming to play your video games on your high definition TV but if you are going to fork out the coin for a nice big high definition TV, you may as well throw down a few extra bucks that it takes to watch some great programming on it between games.

That is unless you are a complete vidiot. DirecTV is the outfit to turn to for this end of your high definition reality escape plan, for a few great reasons. If you are into video games then you for sure know the difference between cheap electronics components and well made electronics. DirecTV uses Hughes electronics for all its satellite TV components that it supplies for its customers.

Other service providers give you a high definition satellite receiver free of charge, because the off brand electronics that they carry is cheap enough to give away. DirecTV tacks on a nominal fee, to help offset the added expense that comes with Hughes electrical components. They will give you a free standard programming receiver, when you join their family of TV viewers but a good quality high definition satellite receiver is an expensive piece of equipment and it is just prohibitively expensive to give Hughes high definition receivers away outright.

So now you know the difference and if you snap at the bait and take the cheap free receiver from a satellite TV service provider, you only have yourself to blame when it starts to give you problems. Don’t bother calling the service provider about it either, because if you recall, they gave it to you and so it is entirely your problem to spend your way out of. One thing that their cheap electronics has that Hughes gear doesn’t have is snazzy whiz-bang names that are supposed to sound high tech. With an ordinary name like Hughes it has to be good.
